I am an academic economist; my official Web page is here. My job description comprises research in economic theory (maybe I’ll have something to say about it in a future post), as well as teaching. Both aspects of my job involve lots of quality time with a computer, and lots of scientific typesetting. Hence my interest in technology and the wonderful typesetting system known as TeX.
As you may know, the word “TeX” should actually be read “tek,” which is itself (I believe) an approximation to the pronunciation of the Greek word τεχ. Anyway, I thought “tekonomist.blogspot.com” was a reasonably witty URL, or at least it’s the best I could come up with on short order.
Anyway, I would like to share some of my adventures (and mishaps) involving computers, typesetting, and related matters. Hopefully you will find them amusing, and perhaps occasionally even informative. Wish me luck!
Hello,
My name is Vivek and I work for Packt, a UK based publishing company specializing in publishing books based on Information Technology (I.T).
We have recently published a new book titled “LaTeX Beginner’s Guide”, written by Stefan Kotwittz. This book is for readers who wish to create high-quality and professional-looking texts, articles, and books for Business and Science using LaTeX. You can read more about this book here:
https://www.packtpub.com/latex-beginners-guide/book
I came across your blog through a Google search and considering your expertise in LaTeX, I feel you’d be one of the best persons to review this book for us. Therefore your thoughts about this book would prove extremely valuable to us and will be very much appreciated.
In case this subject interests you and you’d be interested in writing a review on your website or Amazon, do let me know. I’d be delighted to send you an e-copy of the book on your confirmation.
In case you have any queries, do let me know and I’d be happy to assist.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Vivek
